Qubeley DE (Deep Exploration) - (HGUC 1/144)

This was my first real effort at kit modification.  I can't remember what drew me to the kit originally.  I think the kit had just came out and was seeing a lot of it around the net.  Looking at the art of the MS, I really don't care for it.  Its like a purple and pink butterfly/hummingbird.  I had started to really feel my leanings towards MSV also and really wanted to change this kit up....wanted to shoot a little testosterone into it.  I enjoyed Osumi's use of plating an MS (see the tips of the wings) and felt that usually made the kit look a little more mean.  I also wanted to try some organic shapes.  Hence you see them both.  As I thought of (what later became the result) the design.  The story of an exploring MS getting "attacked/playing parasite host" to an unknown organism made sense.  To add more expectations to the kit, I tried to light it up.  This wasn't easy considering what little spare space there is in the Q's head. I didn't want to add a battery pack to the kit (no room) but wanted a detachable external source.  I rigged up a headphone jack through the kits pelvis.  It was a lot of work but was successful, I feel.  Looking back the "alien" attackers paint job portion wasn't great (I rushed it for a contest), and the kit definately could use some weathering.
